TECH ITCH

Back in 1991 Mark Caro (aka technical itch) was based in Birmingham, DJing at local parties and started out on the production trail with a very limited set up. As his musical production skills and talent developed Mark's unit became more professional and he released tracks as ENTT through the Ibiza label. Mark had by now hooked up with Darren Beale (Decoder now member of band Kosheen) forming a partnership on the first Plasmic Life EP that appeared on the Brain imprint. Further releases ensued, but Mark had the desire to set up his own label, and so Technical Itch Recordings was launched. The label successfully took off, especially with the support of Kenny Ken, who played a selection of Technical Itch tracks on Kiss FM. The rewards began to reap and all of Marks hard work began to pay off. On the back of this exposure the Technical Itch name was signed to 'Moving Shadow' and the label was renamed Tech Itch Recordings. By this time Mark was settled in to Bristol and in partnership with Darren, as they say - the rest is history.

With strong links to Moving Shadow over the years Tech Itch Recordings has been playing a major part in the Drum and Bass worldwide scene. Mark's original tracks are widely renowned for their unique style, high level of production and programming, examples of which can be heard in recent tunes such tunes as The Rukus, Whirl wind and Heavy Metal.

With over 32 releases on the Tech Itch label and a new sister label Penetration - Marks presence within the Drum and Bass scene is ever-stronger.
The natural progression came for Mark to expand into working on more long-term projects. Besides Decoders Kosheen project Mark is currently working on two other albums. One with Bristol based MC Jakes which involves a variety of styles including drum and bass, hip hop, techno and breakbeat tracks. The second sends Mark to familiar grounds, working with Seattle/LA based Barfly, experimenting in an alternative hip hop project known as Morlocks. With the likes of DJ Swamp supplying some cuts and Justin Broadwick (Napalm Death, Godflesh) supplying some fierce guitar, both projects are developing successfully.

Over the years the Tech Itch label has mainly been an outlet for Mark and Darrens music only, with a few guest appearances and joint projects with people such as Ice Minus and Dieselboy and the anthem the calling with kemal ,aswell as a collaboration with dylan. The label feels that many demos received have not been up to standard however, over the last few months were been receiving a lot of fresh material. One demo recently landed on our doorstep from Russia and has led to the signing of two tracks from a duo named Subwave. The next year will definitely see the Tech Itch/Penetration roster grow, especially with Mark and Darren being busier than ever and benny benson boytoy with the behind the scenes work!
